ABOUT Reiki

Reiki is a simple natural form of therapy that originated in Japan in the 19th century for stress reduction, relaxation and to compliment and promote natural healing.

The word Reiki is made from two Japanese words; ‘Rei’ which translates roughly to "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and ‘Ki’ which translates to "life force energy". This translation perfectly encapsulates the treatment of Reiki and its philosophy. Our practitioners work with life force energies to aid you with stresses to your mind and body.

Quite simply when an individuals life force energy is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress and in general have that flat feeling. The practice of Reiki focusses on increasing and moving blocked energies so that you are more capable of feeling relaxed, happy and healthy. This practice focusses on a person beyond just the physical body and helps to support your mind, spirit and emotions to promote wellbeing.

TECHNIQUES Used

Our practitioners use a traditional combination of Reiki techniques that involve placing their hands on or near the body in a sequence of positions that are appropriate to the life force energy in the body.

The techniques used are safe, gentle, relaxing and nurturing. Reiki is different to modalities such as chiropractic and massage as there is no physical manipulation to the body.

What To Expect

Before conducting your first Reiki session our qualified practitioner will get to know you and what you are wanting to gain through your session/s. This is done through face to face conversation and an initial consult form.

Once you and the practitioner are on the same page they will get you to comfortably lie down in our private reiki room. In some cases the reiki may be performed in a comfortable seated position. Your practitioner will then conduct the reiki session custom to your goals and energetic needs. During a session, you may feel warmth or cold, a tingling sensation, slight twitching or a rumbling tummy, or you may feel absolutely nothing; the experience and results are unique to each individual.

You do not need to remove any clothing and no private parts of your body are touched.

Once your session/s are completed you may experience a period of tiredness, emotional release, relaxation or sense of balance and calm. Reiki is a complementary therapy in that it works alongside other medical and therapeutic techniques. Your state will shift quite naturally as the session proceeds.
